Crochet Bloom

I plan to make a skirt in the coming weeks and yes I realise most of you decide to make a skirt that day, however I am a novice sewer and I "plan" to sew LOL. I made this crochet motif on Friday and it screamed "skirt embellishment", so I will make a skirt around this.

What are you reading now?

I signed up for this with Punky's Mama blog....given that I am techno challenged (sorry for absence of links-I promise I will learn how to do that this week), I am not sure if I am doing this correctly. But here goes.

I am reading my fourth Tim Winton book, but I just can't get into it. Nothing to do with Tim I am sure, more the likes of not being in the relaxing space required for reading. I haven't stopped since last year and I need a break!!!!!! Ugh!

can you guess ?

Hint: it is WA south; way south....Majestic creatures were unmercifully slaughtered here.

It is the old whaling station in ALbany WA. I have visited there before many years ago, my husband visited there as a child. He saw the slaughter in action and still reels at the quantity of blood he saw. He still has his whale tooth souvineer he purchased.
When we see things like a closed whaling station, operating as a tourist venue, now advocating to stop the senseless slaughter of the wonders of the sea - we can feel positive that change can be affected.

Happy Birthday Mummy

My Mum turned 70 on the 9th January. Martha and I drove to Canberra and joined my sister and mother and a handful of her friends for a "ladies lunch". We really enjoyed ourselves. I loved listening to my mum and her friends who have known my sister and I since we were in Primary school tell their "remember when" stories, tease each other and swoon over the delicious food my sister served up.

My Mum is a beautiful lady, full of spark and with a cast iron determination. She adores her family and protects us fiercely, in return we just know we couldn't live without her and simply won't stand for the idea!

Happy Birthday Mum, I love you

When counting sheep doesn't work

You begin a a crocheted rug of course!

Wonderment

New Year's Eve was spent in Mandurah, a little up the road from the MIL's. We gathered with many other families for the fireworks display. This was the first time our kids had actually seen fireworks (I know, I am a bad parent)...the boys eagerly gathered on the estry's edge to watch but Martha stayed with Gran and Mummy. So lucky to see her little face; eyes wide with wonder, excitement and joy. I will always remember this NYE because of these moments.

And so a New Year Begins....

Happy New dear bloggy friends!
I have been away in WA, celebrating Christmas on the beach, a very different kind of Christmas for us Melbourne people! Santa came on the 19th December as we would not of been able to bring all the stuff back on the plane. We didn't have a our traditional Christmas Fare which left me feeling I was neglecting my family and had let them down, we did however have our Traditional BIG breaky with blueberry pancakes, bacon, croissants and lots of other yummies!

We took off for Perth on the 21st making a HUGE mistake of flying with TIGER airways.....after a SEVEN HOUR delay we flew to Perth arriving at 5:30 am the next day (Melbourne time) and the kids were so good during this arduous waiting game.

On the up I did LOTS of Op - Shopping with my MIL who is a fantastic and very experienced op-shopper! In fact she works in an Op-shop which meant I had ACCESS to the back room!!!! I found a pair of jeans for $2 that like they have been made for me, even the right length! More on thrifting in another post. We travelled to ALbany and stayed in a wonderful old home with water views, the walked the tree Tops in the Karri forests (wow), and ate so many prawns and crabs (a number of which were caught with my own fisherwoman's hand!) until we couldn't stand the sight of crustaceans and spent a lot of time in the gorgeous blue waters that are down the road from Gran's and taught Uncle David's new German girlfriend the finer points of beach cricket!
